Unmatched cost savings and ease of installation define our new, code-compliant Through Penetration T-Collar.
Key Benefits of the Fire Trak T-Collar
Code-Compliant Design
The T-Collar’s code-compliant design incorporates a high-tech polymer-based coolant wrap surrounded by a protective steel restraining collar. The collar attaches directly to steel or iron conduits and pipes, and is secured in place with two 1/2 inch stainless steel hose clamps.
This new method offers a clean, efficient, and cost-saving alternative to other insulating procedures, while allowing for easy identification by inspectors. In addition, the T-Collar will not reduce ampacity ratings, which often occurs when conduits are insulated.
When installed in conjunction with classified firestop sealants and mineral wool batt insulation*, the T-Collar provides an F-rating of up to 3 hours and a T-rating of up to 2 hours.
* Refer to U.L. Systems No.s C-AJ-1563, 1573, and 1574 (see Code Compliance section below)
Applications
The T-Collar is applied at the intersection of where steel or iron conduits or pipes penetrate concrete barriers (floors, ceilings, or walls). It stands approximately 9 inches high upon complete installation, and a clearance of at least 3/4 inches is recommended around the penetrant prior to installation.
It can be installed on up to 4-inch Trade Size steel or iron conduits and pipes that pass through up to 6-inch diameter openings in concrete barriers. Concrete barriers must be at least 4-1/2 inches thick or made of hollow-core precast concrete floor units at least 6 inches thick. The maximum distance allowed between the penetrant and the periphery of the opening (annular space) is 1-1/2 inches.
Do not apply the T-Collar to penetrants with expected operating temperatures over 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) or below 10 degrees F (-12 degrees C).
